Marabu, the World Champion RC1 Model of 1971

Two young Swiss R/C pilots, Emil and Bruno(+) Giezendanner took an immediate liking to this event and wanted to compete in future championships. Their first aerobatic design was the Pelican. The younger brother, Bruno, succeeded in winning the World Championship in 1969 and 1971 with their aerobatic model “Marabu”. 
In 1969, he won the RC1 contest in Bremen Lemwerder (Germany), and in 1971,  he won the World Championship RC1 again in Doylestown, Pennsylvania (USA).
In cooperation with the Swiss company Leomotion, using original drawings, we designed the ARF version of the Marabu.
Our goal was to exactly reproduce the flying characteristics of original Marabu.
The version of the Marabu offered here is World Championship model flown in 1969.
Our Marabu is an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) package, produced with the latest CNC technology.
Our Marabu is constructed mainly of balsa and plywood, and covered with Oracover (high-quality German iron-on covering material), a guarantee for long life and good looks.
The Marabu is delivered complete with all accessories, but without electronic systems,  retractable gear and engine.  The customer can install a 10 cc. combustion engine or an appropriate electric motor.
An original Giezendanner retractable landing gear system is recommended.
The flying characteristics replicate those of the Marabu in the 1970’s.  The test pilots of our prototype series were very enthusiastic.
